Urban wilderness

Urban wilderness

Plant insertions in the urban context, in addition to their aesthetic role, influence not only thermal but also psychological comfort. Their importance is all the greater when adjacent common areas do not receive much attention. This was also the case of the urban wilderness project, which is designed to give a touch of manicured wilderness to the city.

The simple lines of the architecture have conditioned clear boundaries into which nature’s blanket can be integrated. This resulted in several green strips, and between them were created pathways whose paving blends perfectly with that of the facade. The delineation of the access paths, including by placing them at a lower level than the green plots, made it easier for users to exploit the area. At the same time, we have ensured an easy process of caring for the space, even during the rainy season.

All this strictness of lines challenged us to give a rebellious touch to the landscape architecture project. We integrated several types of plants, arranged according to their height. At the same time, in order to avoid monotony, we opted for plants with leaves of different shapes and shades. While one edge of the plot has been planted with flowers that rise seedily towards the sky, the other edge spills the grass gently onto the pavement. The diverse varieties have also provided a chromatic interplay in which the green is dissolved by a precious beige reminiscent of wheatgrass and purple flowers. All the elements came together in an ensemble that reminds of the wild, but which so ennobles the public space.
